Other People’s Sin
I took a spiritual gift test last night at dinner - 108 questions. Just for it to not give me my results after I signed up like I was supposed to. I mean… that group isn’t something I want to be apart of anyways (because of some of the questions asked). Questions about other people’s sin.
. . .
Oh. Okayyyyyyyyyyyyyy. Wut?
First of all… let’s reword this.
Other people’s sin should be this: what other people do wrong. Amirite? That sounds better.
Of course Jesus is concerned with other people’s sin. But I’ll be {damned} if someone is concerned with my sin. Especially if they know 0 about me. They just know what they think they know. Ha.
It’s different if my Nana, who has known me since before I was born and who has literally held me as I have thrown up, points out my sin. That’s all fine and good. It’s these skirt-wearing, KJV only, Leviticus verse (we all know which verse I’m referring to; if you don’t-hold on right quick) focusing, not having the attitude of “I’m a hypocrite too” people that get to me.
Now - I might be a little biased.
But what do I know?
You must want to know since you’re reading. ;)
So. You must be curious. How did you (me) become so enthusiastic about religion? I am enthusiastic about the relationship with God and Jesus not the religion aspect of Christianity - I am interested in the heart aspect (as is Jesus).
He wants our hearts.
Not how many times we attend church. Or how many times we don’t cuss. Or sin.
Back to that Leviticus comment:
Here’s the verse I’m referring to:
Leviticus 19:26-28.
I’ll let you look that one up in your own personal version.
Something interesting that I read in those verses - it says to not eat food with blood in it. I thought that it said do not eat pork. Hmmm. In the same paragraph, it talks about tattoos and trimming your beard.
Side note: I told my friend Ricky that I was gonna read him my favorite verse - then got choked on my own spit - LOL - God is showing me, isn’t He?! :)
Maybe I should stop while I’m ahead…
It’s funny how trauma and triggers can cause us to get upset or railed up (I think that’s how it’s spelled?), right?
If you can’t tell, I get railed up by some comments made when it comes to religion. Look, we all judge, myself included. It can be hard not to. But we shouldn’t do it because the Bible says so. And because we are not better than anyone else. Yes?
Catch ya next Wednesday -
