God in a Box
Good morning. Long time no write, eh?
TODAY we are going to be talking about a subject that is dear to my heart: God. And relationship versus religion.
I hate the word religion. Hate it. Why? Because usually, with religion, it is used to sometimes be a rule book, yes? When Christianity is supposed to be all about love. God = love.
I think it is so sad when I hear people say, “you’re going to go to hell if you don’t repent.” Wrong: it is through faith that you are saved, not through works. Pretty sure repenting is a work.
I think it is sad that a lot of people (who a lot of people, often the ones judging them) do not even try to understand other people. They just point that wicked finger. If you point a finger at someone else, you’re pointing three back at yourself, yes?
I reread my journal entry from a few weeks ago and it says something like, “Is it possible that God is not bound to His own rules? Thought.”
Time and time again, I’ve seen God make my sins into good things. Yes, I’ve been punished, but at the end of the day and all of the day, He was right there with me. He didn’t get mad and turn away from me, He loves me and is obsessed with me. Do you really think that my salvation would change because I sin? The answer is absolutely not. Let me say it again: it is through FAITH that we are saved. Not through works. We have to accept Jesus as our Savior. And let me tell you, He accepts you for who you are. Even if it goes “against” the Bible. Yes? Yes.
I’ve always really known God and it is something I’ve always been passionate about.
I think we need to stop putting God in a box.
Close-mindedness is not going to get you very far in the people loving business that we’re supposed to be in as Christians.
Last time I checked, Jesus loved and loved everybody. Everyone is equal.
Let’s talk about this verse about homosexuality being an abomination. First of all, it’s in Leviticus. And also in that book, it talks about tattoos, piercings, eating pork, and cutting hair. I love it when someone makes a comment about tattoos and can reference that verse. But what they don’t understand is: it’s all in the same verse I believe or close to. And they ate a BBQ sandwich for lunch, got a fresh haircut today, and they have their ears pierced… I rest my case.
Back to homosexuality. “God hates gay people.” This statement hurts my heart and I know it hurts God’s. Because it is simply not true at all. Jesus sat and talked with everyone, including gay people. Some of the most loving and caring people that I know are gay and they’re not all Christians. Y’all sure are putting a label on God that He didn’t intend to put there. But a common theme that I see: non Christians being more loving than Christians. Come on now, we’ve got to do better. Being a child of God is more than going to church every time the doors are open, following the “rule book,” repenting, it’s truly about God and people. If you’re not loving people, are you truly sharing the gospel of Christ? I don’t know.
So y’all mean to tell me that a gay person should stay closeted, not have a real chance at loving another person, be dishonest (which is technically lying, Karen), not true to themselves, when if they were just simply themselves, then they could be a better Christian, friend, lover, soul seeker. Let this sink in.
Why should someone who is gay have to hide themselves when you just had a threesome with your husband and y’all’s friend? #1- somebody is of the same sex there. Gasp! Talk about pot calling the kettle black. And then also - you technically committed adultery. But it’s okay because you’re married to a man and you just needed to spice things up. Eh, I don’t know.
Do you see where I’m getting at. It’s kinda like… okay, so premarital sex is fine if it’s a man or a woman. Oh. Okay. Or (and I’m going to say this) oral sex is fine if it’s between a man and woman. Hmmmmmmm………..
I read that verse in Leviticus about homosexuality being an abomination and this and that, but if you’ll peel back the extra layers here, the verses surrounding that verse have to do with sex in general. And yes, that means between man and woman.
Yes, God is the same today, tomorrow, and forever. But He is the creator of us, His own rules, this world. I refuse to think that God is who some of y’all have painted Him as. Or who y’all have taught other people that He is. I KNOW God. And He is NOT full of hate, He is full of love. Acceptance. And He wants us to want Him whether we are gay or not, my friends. I hate that this is even a subject. We’ve got to do better.
All I know is: God has been there for me through it all. Even through stuff He’s known for “not liking.” Or stuff that is an “abomination.” He is my best friend. He accepts me no matter what.
I love it when people show me verses like I don’t know God. Like I have one of the strongest faiths out there. Like I’m not known for my faith. I will defend God’s honor by showing the world what He truly is about, which is love. Not hate.
There’s a lot of hate out there and it sure as hell does not need to come from people who serve and follow the God of love. And also the God who died on the cross for our sins. He died for US. And our sins.
Look, we all fall short of the glory of God. But, if you can love the way that God wants you to and truly and wholeheartedly love someone the way God desires you to and they just so happen to be the same sex, then who gives a rat’s ass? Truly. Love who you love. It is still love.
This idea of God hating people or hating someone because they’re gay is what turns other people off. We turn people off from God.
What’s really scary: people think we are like God. PHEW.
So, Karen, that lengthy message you sent the man who is gay that says he’s going to hell, that’s a bad witness, honey. Technically, you lied. So I guess you’re going to hell for sinning, honey. Do you hear how ignorant this is?
Christians are also people, which is also scary. Because people are stupid. 😂
Quit pointing out Bible verses or sending them to people, love them. Invest in them, learn them, understand them, this is what Jesus did and does.
One of the greatest commandments in the Bible is: love your neighbor and love your God. Is that what we are doing?
Happy Sunday. Be like God today. God is good all the time, all the time, God is good. Don’t be a Karen. Love who you love, whatever that looks like. 🌈
